How TAR — The Appliance Repairs collects, uses and protects the personal information you give us when you book or contact us.
Last updated 30 October 2026
1. Who controls your data
TAR — The Appliance Repairs is the data controller for the information collected through this website, by phone and by WhatsApp. Contact us at info@theappliancerepairs.co.uk or on 020 3691 1116.
2. What we collect
When you book a repair we collect your name, phone number, email address, the property address, postcode and details of the appliance and fault. If you contact us through the website form we collect your name, email, phone number and message.
We also collect basic technical information from website visits — pages viewed, approximate location by postcode area and the device type — to understand which pages are useful.
3. Why we use it
- To book, schedule and carry out your repair, including contacting you about the appointment.
- To quote for parts and take payment, keeping records for accounting and tax.
- To honour the guarantee on work we have carried out.
- To improve our website and service based on aggregated, non-identifying usage.
- To send you a service update or follow-up about a repair, and marketing only where you have opted in.
4. Lawful basis
We rely on contract for processing needed to carry out your repair, on legal obligation for tax and accounting records, on legitimate interests for running and improving our business, and on consent for any marketing messages.
5. Who we share it with
Your details are shared only with the engineer assigned to your job, and with service providers who help us operate: our booking and email systems, payment and accounting providers, and our website host.
We never sell your personal data. We may disclose information where required by law or to establish or defend a legal claim.
6. How long we keep it
Job records, including your contact details, are kept for six years to support the guarantee and meet accounting requirements. Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for 12 months. Marketing consent records are kept until you withdraw consent.
7. Your rights
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, including marketing.
- Withdraw marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
8. Security and international transfers
Data is held in access-controlled systems and transmitted over encrypted connections. Some service providers process data outside the UK, in which case appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum apply.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
